How can we prevent our only child from becoming a lonely child?
Q: How can parents make sure that an only child never gets lonely?
A: Make sure your child is part of a larger community, with a support system of loving and caring people. Build relationships with other parents so that your child has friends to play with and you have a network of friends with whom you can share your thoughts and concerns. Join or start a playgroup to give your child the opportunity to interact with her peers on a regular basis. Finally, plan outings together to continue the budding relationships, so your child will form friendships that will hopefully last a long time.
