I like going to rock concerts. My mum says it’s bad for the baby. I can’t believe she’s right, but sometimes it gets me nervous. I figured I’d find out the right answer.
It’s safe to listen to loud music. Keep in mind, however, that your baby will not hear the music clearly. Imagine yourself submerged in a swimming pool listening to loud music. It will be muffled at best. With loud music, the vibrations will move through the abdomen and be felt by the baby.
A baby can hear sound in the mid-to-late second trimester. Many babies respond to the sound and move around. I’ve had patients tell me their baby loved a certain band or CD.
