Should pregnant women get the flu vaccine?
Q: I read that women in their second or third trimester should get a flu shot. Do you recommend that? I’m really careful about what I subject my unborn child to and don’t want to do anything unnecessary.
A: The centres for Disease Control recommends that all pregnant women in the second and third trimester receive the flu vaccine. I advise the same course of action for my patients, as becoming ill with influenza while pregnant can cause problems for both mother and baby.

The vaccine is composed of a non-viable virus and will not cause your baby any harm. So make the right decision for you and your unborn child: get your vaccination and stay healthy.
