Inspired by a North Carolina report of a heroic 3½-year-old, Fisher-Price® has established the "Real Hero Award" program to honor other child heroes across the country.
The recipient of the first award was young Desi Toal of Charlotte, N.C., who rushed 50 yards on his Power Wheels® vehicle to alert his parents that his sister was drowning in a neighbor's pond.
Fisher-Price has begun scanning newspaper headlines and television reports for other acts of heroism that call for a Real Hero Award. From now through the end of the year, we will be looking for heroes who:
1. Are between the ages of 3 and 12. 2. Perform the heroic act without putting himself or herself, or others, in danger. 3. Are residents of the United States.
All awards will be given at the sole discretion of Fisher-Price®. Rescue Heroes™ figures are a collection of preschool action figures that all represent non-violent, real-life heroes. The Real Hero Award is a handmade plaque dedicated to the child, and features an appropriate Rescue Hero action figure to represent the act of heroism. If you know of a local child who you think is a Real Hero, you may send newspaper clippings to:
Billy Blazes c/o Freeman Public Relations 855 Valley Road Clifton, NJ 07013
Maybe the next Real Hero Award will go to a child in your neighborhood!. |
