About Imagination
At this stage, your child is imagining a pretend world where they can make anything happen!
Imaginative play: Pretending that Sarah Lynn the fairy can really fly!
Social play: Inviting others to join in the play (“I’ll be the fairy, you be the unicorn and take me for a magical ride!”)
Creative problem-solving: Deciding what kind of magic the fairy can make happen with her wand.
This imaginative stage lets your child be the “director” of the action, making all the decisions and even including others in the play. Imagining helps a child think things through, which is great preparation for learning. |
