Gather your cherubs for a little Valentine’s Day fun. This heartfelt craft is a great way for you and your darlings to share love and affection. Creating these colorful hearts with your kids will be extra-special because they’re homemade with love. Add some hugs and kisses for the whole family to enjoy what Valentine’s Day is made of.
Materials
- Large sheets of paper (each at least 2 square feet)
- Tape or stapler
- Markers, crayons, paint, and/or paintbrushes
- Child's blunt-tip safety scissors
- Newspaper, tissue paper, or other paper scraps
- Hole punch and yarn (optional)
Instructions
- Lay a sheet of paper on top of another and tape or staple the edges together to hold the pieces securely together for the next 2 steps.
- Draw the outline of a heart on one side of the paper.
- Cut along the outline to make two cut-outs.
- Tape or staple the edges of the cut-outs together, leaving an opening along one edge.
- Let your child color or paint both sides of the heart red, white, and/or pink.
- Crumple up newspaper and stuff the heart with it.
- Staple the opening shut.
- If you like, punch a hole in the top of the shape.
- Loop yarn through the hole and hang the heart from a wall or ceiling.
