Shamrock Magnet

Shamrock Magnet

Shamrock Magnet

Gather up your little leprechauns for some St. Patrick's Day fun. Try this Irish craft together and when you're all done, sing a little Irish tune and dance the jig away, for everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!

Materials

  • Child's blunt-tip safety scissors
  • Cardboard
  • White glue
  • Small container
  • Green food coloring
  • Paintbrush
  • Dry spaghetti
  • Magnet

Instructions

  1. Cut a shamrock shape from the cardboard. Make it any size you like, but be sure to consider the size of the magnet you'll be using.
  2. Pour a small amount of glue into the container.
  3. Add a few drops of green food coloring and mix well.
  4. Have your child paint the green glue all over the shamrock shape.
  5. Break the spaghetti into pieces about as wide as the shamrock. (The pieces can extend past the edges.)
  6. Cover the entire shamrock with rows of spaghetti.
  7. Brush green glue on the spaghetti and let it dry.
  8. Carefully trim the spaghetti.
  9. Glue a magnet onto the back of the shamrock.
