Nature Bookmark

Materials

  • Pressed or dried flowers—follow the directions for the Flower Press activity to press fresh flowers, or use dried flowers instead.
  • Child’s blunt-tip safety scissors
  • Envelope with a clear plastic window
  • Construction paper
  • Glue
  • Washable markers or gel pens
  • Hole punch and ribbon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut out the clear plastic window from the envelope. As you cut, leave a narrow paper border around the window.
  2. Cut construction paper to the same size as the window you’ve cut from the envelope.
  3. Arrange the flowers on the construction paper cut-out, then place the envelope window on top of the flowers.
  4. Be sure the flowers show through the window.
  5. Remove the window and glue the flowers onto the construction paper.
  6. Squeeze glue on the paper border around the envelope window.
  7. Place the envelope window over the top of the flowers and press it into place on the construction paper.
  8. Have your child decorate the bookmark with washable markers or gel pens.
  9. If you like, punch a hole at the top of the bookmark, loop ribbon through the hole, and tie it.

Safety
