Old Glory Tablecloth

Materials

  • 2 spray bottles
  • Water
  • Red and blue food coloring
  • White cotton sheet or tablecloth
  • Red and blue fabric paint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Partially fill the spray bottles with water.
  2. Add red food coloring to one bottle and blue to the other.
  3. Add enough coloring to get vivid shades of red and blue.
  4. Hang the sheet or tablecloth on a fence or lay it flat on the ground.
  5. Have your child spray-paint the sheet with the colored water.
  6. Let the sheet dry, then use it for a holiday tablecloth.
  7. (Diluted food coloring will easily wash out of most fabrics. For permanent color, use diluted fabric paint.)
