Materials
- Scissors
- Heavy cardboard
- Masking tape or poster putty (optional)
- Large sheet of paper
- Several crayons, papers removed
Instructions
- Cut geometric shapes, letters, and numbers from heavy cardboard (or buy them pre-cut from an educational supply store).
- Arrange the cut-outs randomly on a table, using some rolled-up masking tape or poster putty to hold them in place, if you like.
- Cover the table with the paper.
- Give your child several crayons.
- Show her how to rub the crayons sideways over the paper and see the shapes appear.
- If you like, move the paper and rub again.
- Have fun identifying the shapes, letters, and numbers.
- Display the paper or use it as gift-wrap.
