Play Dough Shapes

Materials

  • Broad-tip marker
  • Several sheets of construction paper or other colored paper
  • Clear contact paper
  • Play dough

Instructions

  1. Use a broad-tip marker to draw shapes (a circle, square, rectangle, triangle, oval, crescent, and so on) on the construction paper, one shape per sheet. Cover each sheet of paper with clear contact paper.
  2. Have your child roll the play dough into ropes and shape them over each drawn shape.
  3. Then have her close her eyes, feel each play dough shape, and try to identify it.
  4. If you like, draw letters and numbers on additional sheets of paper and repeat the process.
