Play Dough Leaf Print

Let the kids make clay or dough leaf prints to celebrate the coming of autumn.

Materials

  • Homemade or store-bought non-toxic play dough or clay
  • Leaves
  • Small rolling pins or round dowels

Instructions

  1. Buy or make play dough. (To make play dough, mix 4 cups flour, 1 cup salt, and 1 3/4 cups water and knead with your hands. Add food coloring if desired.)
  2. Divide up the dough so you have enough for each child.
  3. Go out and collect leaves from the yard or have them ready ahead of time.
  4. Show the children how to roll out the dough or pat it flat.
  5. Demonstrate how to press the leaves into the dough to make an imprint.
  6. Save the leaf prints or let the kids try other objects to make imprints.
