Materials
- Pen or marker
- Christmas cookie cutters
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glitter pens or paint pens (optional)
- Hole punch or tape
- Dental floss or embroidery thread
- Dinner-size paper plate (or file folder cut into a circle)
Instructions
- Trace around the cookie cutters on the paper and cut out the shapes.
- If you like, have your child decorate the shapes with glitter pens or paint pens.
- Punch a hole at the top of each shape (or use tape) to attach a floss or thread loop to each shape.
- Beginning at one edge of the paper plate, cut along a spiral path, cutting around and around until you reach the center of the plate.
- Punch a hole in the center.
- Loop floss or thread through the hole.
- Punch as many holes as you have shapes at different places in the spiral, then tie a shape to each hole.
- Hang the mobile from the ceiling.
Safety
Adult participation needed for use of scissors and hole punch.
If your child is able to do the cutting, use a child's blunt-tip safety scissors.
