Fun Trends in Baby Showers
Shared by Melissa
Baby showers are a-changing. They’re no longer a slightly awkward shindig where the mother-to-be gets wrapped in a toilet paper diaper and the guests are forced to fill in the blanks on nursery rhymes.
A baby shower can be tailored to suit the mom it’s being thrown for, making it fresh and fun for everyone.
Gender Reveal. Unveil the baby’s gender at the shower! Keep the theme/decorations neutral. Then have a friend or local bakery create cupcakes or a large cake that, when cut open, reveals either pink or blue filling for the baby boy or girl on the way.
Co-ed Party. Dads are excited about becoming parents too, so why not have a baby shower and invite the dad-to-be and his friends as well? A casual affair, like a BBQ, suits both sides and allows both parents to celebrate their impending arrival together.
Have a Sprinkle. Moms having their 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th!) child deserve to be celebrated too. A great idea is a mini shower, or a Sprinkle, where the guest list is usually shorter, the decorations less elaborate, and the gifts more practical – think big packs of diapers and wipes. More of an intimate affair than a huge shower, with the mom-to-be’s closest friends, a Sprinkle can be a simple afternoon tea rather than an over-the-top affair.
An Event Shower. For moms who prefer an outing to a sit-down, why not book a spa for a pampering party? Or perhaps a fun afternoon of chocolate tasting? Outdoorsy moms-to-be might enjoy a picnic at a park and movie buffs would love an evening with their closest friends watching movies.
