Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Classic Toy I have been working really hard to avoid all plastic toys. But when I went out to the stores looking for a standard xylophone, the wood ones were designed in a way that made them more of a toy, and less usable as a piece of musical equipment. I wanted my son to learn to play with a durable musical instrument, since he is only 10 months. I also wanted to watch him grow into the equipment and develop with it. As he grows, he will be able to play songs, but for now he is content to hit the notes with the mallet and mouth the mallet. My son adores it. He loves playing by himself, showing us what he can do, and playing along and watching me use it with him. Couldn't be happier with a toy that has such high learning value! The only complaint I have is that the xylophone does NOT come with any music sheets. It should, like the old ones did back when I was a child. I had hoped it would, or at least have some music sheets online that I could print out and laminate for my son. Perhaps Fisher Price will do something about that in the future. June 9, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed I bought the Xylophone for my granddaughter but was sadly disappointed. When my daughter had this toy it played music when she pulled it. This one only plays music when you hit it with mallet. I would not have bought it if I known it wasn't like the old one. When the toy said CLASSIC I assumed it was like the old one. July 21, 2011
