How do I stop my 3-year-old from misbehaving in public?
It is very embarrassing. Furthermore, a fall from a shopping cart can be dangerous, so you don’t want to allow that to happen. The best thing to do is not take him with you. If possible, do your shopping when his father or someone else can keep him for you. And tell him why he can’t go—“I can’t take you with me because you don’t mind me and you make people think you’re a bad boy.” Skip a few trips, and then give him another chance. Little children love trips to the grocery store, and not getting to go can be very effective punishment.
