I used to keep children in a local nursery and my name is Dana, pronounced like Donna. They couldn't say Dana so they called me NaNa. When my children had children they had liked that name so good they decided their children would call me that also.

Before he could say Grandma he called me Yellow, his favorite color). No one knew why but it was so cute. Soon I became Gamma -- minus the "r" (which I love).
-Karen, Gamma to one
My grandson couldn't say Grandma -- it always came out "grey," so it stuck. Now my granddaughter says the same. They call their other Ggrandma "Grandma." She didn't like being called Grey-Grey; I think it's cute.
-Bev, Grey-Grey to one
When I flew out to meet my second grandchild -- my first grand-daughter -- her brother was just 3. They live a small community that has a very small airport. So they are able to get really close when the planes come and go. When I flew there, my grandson decided that I should forever be known as Grandma Airplane. He will be 7 in June and I am proud to wear the name. I usually find him gifts that have to do with airplanes so he will always remember who he got it from. Last year for Christmas we got matching M&M Airplanes. So we will always think of each other when we see it. They live in South Dakota; I live in Washington state. We don't get to see each other nearly enough. But maybe someday I can make that flight again.
-Chris, Grandma Airplane to seven
I have a set of twin boys and one calls me "Other Grandma" because they also have their Nanny and also Great Grandma. So when asked why I am "Other Grandma" it is because I am the "other grandma" in his mind.
-Janis, Other Grandma to three
I am "Famma" to three beautiful granddaughters (ages 7, 5 & 1 year) and expecting my fourth grandchild this November. My oldest granddaughter began calling me Gammy but soon changed and started calling me Famma; the name has stuck. I love that it is different and unique, and appears to be one of a kind.
-Lora, Famma to three
