My first grandbaby is due August 16, 2010 and I am elated! When my son told me they had some good news, I knew at once what it was. That news was the best thing that happened to me in a long time!

It was my birthday and I opened a card that said, "to Grandma" on the front. The signature inside read: "See you in October." My daughter nodded her head "yes" and then we both cried. Last month it was my birthday again and I unwrapped a picture frame that had the word "Grandchildren" across the top. I looked at my soon to be 5-year-old grandson who proudly said, "I'm gonna be a big brother Gamma." I asked, "when?" to which he replied, "when I five" as he held up his hand.

This is really a funny story. When my son called to tell me I was going to be a grandma, I thought he was telling me that his black lab was going to have pups!! I was totally shocked and excited at the same time.

The first time I heard we were to be grandparents I thought "We are blessed!" Blessed with a daughter and son-in-law who were thrilled to be pregnant and would be wonderful parents. Blessed that my husband and I are in good health and able to be a part of our grandchild's life. What an absolute miracle it is to have a baby!

My husband and I were elated when we heard the news that we were going to become grandparents. Nothing can compare to the excited feeling of a new generation beginning.

I was very excited but a tad depressed. I didn't feel like I was old enough to be a Grandma! After I got over the shock, I was beyond excited and when I saw my sweet granddaughter for the first time, I was in love!
