We often have more patience because we don’t have to deal with the routine issues. We do the FUN stuff!

My daughter and son-in-law welcomed their first child in December, 2010. I was fortunate to be my grandson's primary caregiver when the kids went back to work. It was the most joyful time of my life. It's been 31 years since I spent that much time with a baby and nothing about caring for an infant was forgotten. In fact, my daughter now thinks I'm the "baby whisperer". The smiles I get when he wakes from his naps and the way he reaches for me make my heart so full, my cup runneth over. We live in different states now. He has a nanny and I'm home again missing my little man so much. I can hardly wait until his first birthday.

Where to start? Everything! Being a part of my grandchildren’s lives brings me so much joy. And watching my daughter experience motherhood…well, it’s incredible!

I love them to the end of my heart!

My granddaughter was born three and a half years ago. After working full-time for 30 years, I cut back to a three-day work week to sit for her once or twice a week. My greatest joy is being able to completely concentrate on her; not my work, not my home—just her. We play for hours. I am the voices of all of her dolls and characters. We bake, we paint, we swim, and we luxuriate in our time together. Plus, my husband just retired, so my life is perfect. It will be more perfect in April, when we are expecting our second grandchild.

This is what my great-granddaughter calls me. She is a reason for wanting to grow old. She sees me and her whole face lights up and she starts running for me to catch her. There is no better thrill in life.
