Q:
When is it OK to take a one-week vacation without your child? I'm a single parent of a 14-month-old daughter. A girlfriend asked me to take a trip with her. I'd like to go, but I feel guilty leaving my daughter. My parents don't think I should go. What's right and appropriate?
A:
It's OK to leave your daughter for a week if, in your case she has a close relationship with her grandparents and they will be watching her. It's not a good idea to leave a child this age with a stranger.
