Q:
Is it safe to get a suntan while pregnant as long as I use a higher SPF suntan lotion? I'm four months along and have always been a sun-worshipper, but a friend of mine who is a new mother said she read this wasn't a healthy practice for an expectant mom.
A:
You may find your skin more sensitive to sunlight during pregnancy. Therefore, it is a good idea to use a higher SPF suntan lotion during pregnancy. As you are probably aware, sun tanning is harmful to your skin. Perhaps you should consider the long-term safety of being a sun-worshipper and find a new way to enjoy the outdoors, such as pushing a stroller.
