Q:
What can I do to soothe my child at home if he develops a toothache before we can get a dental appointment?
A:
First, find out what causes the toothache. If the tooth hurts when your child eats sweets, do not allow any sweets. Sometimes hot or cold may cause pain; if that's the case, have your child avoid hot or cold foods. If the pain persists, you can give him an analgesic to tide him over.
