Materials

• Green heavyweight construction paper
• Child’s blunt-tip safety scissors
• Green cellophane (or clear plastic wrap colored green with a permanent marker)
• White glue or glue stick (non-toxic)
• Pipe cleaners
• Hole punch

Instructions

• Draw shamrock-shaped frames on green construction paper, large enough to fit over a child’s eyes. (Or, just make them round if the kids are new to cutting.)
• Have the kids cut out the frames (with your help, if needed.)
• Cut out the centers of the frames to make eyeholes.
• Cut the green cellophane into small circles to fit the eyeholes.
• Glue the cellophane circles over the back of the eyeholes.
• For added fun, let the kids decorate the frames with markers, glitter, feathers or stickers.
• Punch (or poke) a small hole on either side of the glasses.
• Insert a pipe cleaner and twist the end to secure it.
• Repeat on the other side of the glasses.
• Fit the glasses to the child’s face and loop the other end of the pipe cleaner over the child's ears.
• Let the kids enjoy looking at the world through emerald-colored glasses.
• If you like, try making the glasses with different colors of cellophane.
