Poster board or large sheet of construction paper
On poster board, use a ruler and markers to make a calendar grid.
Help your child label the calendar with the month and day names and write the day numbers in each square.
Let your child decorate the calendar with seasonal images, and mark holidays, birthdays and other special days with stickers or drawings.
Read the calendar with your child every day. Say the day, the date, the month, and the year. For example, you might say, “Today is Tuesday. That means yesterday was Monday, and tomorrow will be Wednesday. Today is the twenty-ninth of July 2003. That means yesterday was the twenty-eighth and tomorrow will be the thirtieth.”
Then let your child cross off each day, or place a sticker in the calendar square.
