How do I get my 26-month-old daughter to sleep longer in the morning? She goes down between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. and wakes up at 5.30 a.m. She’s often tired during the day, even with naps, so we want her to sleep longer. Do we ignore her calls and let her wait awhile, in the hopes that she will sleep longer?
Start putting your daughter to bed no earlier than 7:30. After she’s asleep, put some safe toys within easy reach so she can entertain herself when she wakes up early. Many parents find that their children will fall back to sleep in the morning after a little bit of play, so don’t be so quick to get her up and out of bed.
