I work at a nursing home where we’re required to get the TB skin test. Because I’m six weeks pregnant, I don’t want to. My supervisor told me that if I don’t, I can’t work there. I don’t want to hurt my baby, but I need the job and the insurance benefits.
You don’t need to worry about the tuberculosis test. It can be safely administered during pregnancy.
This is a great example of a question you should ask your doctor, by the way. I can’t stress enough how important it is to speak with your doctor about pregnancy concerns. If you don’t feel comfortable talking to him or her, it’s time to get a new doctor!
