If I ask a friend to watch my child, can I tell her I disapprove of the TV shows they watch?
Q: We have certain house rules we follow in our home, such as not watching TV at certain times or not watching certain shows. However, when I take my daughter to a friend’s house to play while I run errands, the mum lets them watch too much TV, and sometimes programs I find objectionable. I need to rely on her to watch my daughter so I can get things done. What can I say to her without offending her or ruining our relationship?
A: I don’t think you can say anything. Your friend is doing you a huge favor, so I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to tell her what to do in her own house.
