There is a history of twins in my husband’s family and we are wondering what our chances are for having twins? What tests are done to confirm this and how soon would we be able to find out?
This is one of my favourite questions because YOU and your ovaries are the sole determiner of how many babies you will have. If your husband had his way, you’d have 100 million babies each time you conceive (he has many more sperm than that)! Seriously, your chances of having twins without taking fertility medications are a little less than 1%. Ultrasound is the only accurate way to determine if you are having twins. This test is done around the 18th - 20th week of pregnancy unless there is a reason to do an earlier scan.
