My 7-month-old likes to take baths but is afraid to be in a baby swimming pool. Is that normal? We tried to put her in the baby pool and she screamed in fear as soon as her feet touched the water. Last night we walked outside and the minute she saw the pool, she started screaming. When would it be better to introduce her to the swimming pool?
Wait until next summer. Having a small baby in even a baby pool is fraught with so much danger that I would be happy she doesn’t want to go in. And, yes, this kind of reaction is definitely normal. Babies are very sensitive to temperature changes, and it may be that the water is too cold to feel good to her, even in very hot weather.
