Q:
In a few weeks I'm going to the Dominican Republic with my 1-year-old baby. I'd like to know what options I have regarding milk and juice as well as food.
A:
I see no need to change the way you have been feeding your child when you travel, Isabelle, but I do offer the following caution: Use only processed, bottled drinks with your baby and avoid food that has been washed in tap or well water unless it has been boiled or treated beforehand. Even though babies in the Dominican Republic may be able to handle the local water, your baby will not have natural immunities against certain bacteria and could get diarrhea, which is very serious in young children.
