Is there a connection between cartoons and aggressive play?
Q:
My 4-year-old grandson plays so aggressively that his toys break. Is there a connection between this play and watching too many action-packed cartoons?
A:
You might try cutting back on the cartoons and seeing if it helps. You might also put a ”big boy” chart on the refrigerator so he can earn stickers and privileges for controlling his temper and not breaking his toys.
Another suggestion is to look within the family for possible circumstances that could be making your son angry. These could include not spending adequate time with his dad, spending too much time in daycare or being mistreated by an older sibling.
