Q:
Is it Ok to give my 13-month-old daughter soy milk?
A:
If your daughter has never shown any problems with soy, go ahead. Be aware, however, that every few years soy milk use with children becomes a “topic” in the medical and nutritional community, and then it fades away again! Soy formulas have been fed to babies for years without any problems, and families with known milk protein allergies, as well as vegetarian families, have thrived on soy products. Please inform your daughter's pediatrician if you do put her on soy milk, however, so that he can enter the information into her medical record.
