Q:
I think my 6-month-old girl is teething. She isn't sleeping very well at night or during the day, she doesn't eat well and she cries most of the time. I have been giving her teething tablets. Are they safe? And, do you think it sounds like she's teething?
A:
It sounds like your baby is teething, and 6 months is the average age for the eruption of the first baby teeth. I'm not familiar with teething tablets, so I can't comment on them. However, why not try some simple soothers such as cold rubber rings or baby spoons? When your baby fusses, take one of these out of the freezer or refrigerator and let her chew on it. Just make sure they're not too cold. You can also buy over-the-counter products that have a temporary numbing effect. Remember, this is just a phase in your daughter's life. It will pass.
