Q:
My 6-month-old son is teething, and he isn't eating or sleeping very well. I have been told to let him cry. Is that all I can do? To try to soothe him I have given him numbing gel, teething tabs, Tylenol and warm baths. Nothing seems to relax him so he will sleep or calm down to eat. What should I do?
A:
Each child reacts differently to teething, and each child has different sleep patterns, so you should ask your son's pediatrician for advice. I would probably discontinue use of the teething tabs, numbing gel and Tylenol since they're not working. Perhaps you could use a chewing ring or teething toy.
