Q:
Should every child visit an orthodontist? If so, at what age should the first visit be scheduled?
A:
Not every child needs to see an orthodontist. There is large percentage of children with properly aligned teeth. There are different schools of thought about when a first visit should be. Some orthodontists want to see a patient upon the eruption of the first permanent tooth and others like to wait until all the permanent teeth are in. You should consult your family dentist about his or her opinion.
