Q:
I'm planning a big party for my son's first birthday. Someone told me that children shouldn't have chocolate before 2 years. Is this true?
A:
Unfortunately, chocolate can cause digestive distress in some little kids, and the first birthday party should not be remembered for a tummy ache!
The real fun of that first cake is watching your toddler make a mess. If chocolate cake is a favorite with your family, I suggest having a cake that is half chocolate, half white and letting the birthday boy play in the vanilla side. That way, you can literally have your cake and eat it, too!
