Q:
My 8-month-old is teething, but still does not have teeth. He has lots of teething rings that he has been using for a couple of months now, but still no teeth. What can I do to help his teeth come through his gums?
A:
Your 8-month-old is still at a normal development stage and trying to hurry it up is not needed. Teething is a highly individualistic trait and each child gets his or her teeth when their body should. At 8 months, the teeth are still growing in the gums and jaws and should not come in until they have reached their proper maturation. Trying to get them in earlier could cause injury to the health of the teeth and jaw.
