My 22-month-old only has two bottom teeth, four top teeth and four molars. He's constantly chewing on his hands. Should I talk to his pediatrician, or see a dentist who specializes in baby teeth?
It sounds like your son is growing teeth at a slightly delayed pace. This is usually not a problem. However, sometimes when children are missing teeth, it can cause their bite to be off. You should see a pediatric dentist to determine if these teeth are present and if the dentist can help guide your son's bite for the future.
There is commonly a variation in the order and timing of teeth appearing. Remember, when friends tell you their children are at a certain point in development, it doesn't necessarily mean your son should be there, too.
