After a scary episode, my grandson refuses to return to daycare!
Q: A few weeks ago, someone at my 3-year-old grandson's daycare gave him a candy bar, and he had a reaction to the peanuts. The paramedics came, and he was rushed to the hospital. He was fine, but now he refuses to go to school. What should we do?

A: It sounds like your grandson had an upsetting experience that he's now associating with school. For a few days try staying with him at daycare to help him calm down. Another approach is to allow your grandson to stay home for a while with you and then ease him back to daycare, starting with shorter days and building up to longer days.

And I can't encourage you enough to make sure that the staff keeps this from happening again.
