I read that women in their second or third trimester should get a flu shot. Do you recommend that? I’m really careful about what I subject my unborn child to and don’t want to do anything unnecessary.
The centres for Disease Control recommends that all pregnant women in the second and third trimester receive the flu vaccine. I advise the same course of action for my patients, as becoming ill with influenza while pregnant can cause problems for both mother and baby.
The vaccine is composed of a non-viable virus and will not cause your baby any harm. So make the right decision for you and your unborn child: get your vaccination and stay healthy.
