A: Lifting a child is no different than lifting any 30-pound object. If you do it carefully, bending from your hips and using your legs to do the work, it’s fine.

If you have preexisting back problems or obstetrical complications, you should check with your doctor regarding restrictions that may be applicable in your case.

Hopefully you will be able to spend more time with your 2-year-old on your lap as the pregnancy progresses.
