Q:
My 3-month-old daughter sleeps in bed with my husband and me. If we continue to let her sleep with us, will we have a serious problem trying to get her to sleep in her own bed when she gets older?
A:
Yes, you will have a problem getting her to sleep in her own bed. So the sooner you start helping her adjust to sleeping in her own cot, the easier it will be for your child to adapt. There is, however, a more important reason for a separate cot and that reason is safety. Each year, parents sleeping with their babies roll over onto their infants and accidentally suffocate them. This is the main reason pediatricians advise parents to place their babies into a cot.
